My Approach

I’ve journeyed through diverse settings, drawing on the wisdom each has offered. After earning my Master’s in Social Work from UC Berkeley, I found myself being led to explore alternative approaches to trauma and addiction recovery through a radical feminist organization dedicated to social change, Shakti Rising.
This led me to complete advanced certification studying with midwife and status quo disrupter, Rachelle Seliga of Innate Traditions. Thus solidifying my commitment to supporting mothers and families in the postpartum period, not only for individual wellness, but for the health of our communities as a whole.
My work weaves together somatic therapies, addiction recovery, Jungian and eco-psychology, expressive arts, and a grounding in herbalism, regenerative farming, and plant dyeing, each an alchemical metaphor for healing and transformation. Whether you are feeling hung out to dry, could stand to let the field lay fallow or are simply looking to give the seeds you sow the best shot possible, I am here to support you in crafting a plan that meets the needs of your circumstances.
Meet Teri
Hello, I’m Teri Hedman.
I am a licensed clinical social worker, community herbalist, regenerative farmer, and above all else, an artist. I hold a deep personal connection to the natural world and a profound trust in the wisdom of nature, in the rhythms and cycles all around us and within us.
Salt & Sun Apothecary was born from a desire to bring natural beauty and body care to the women in my community. It began with handcrafted herbal products and blossomed into an exploration of plant dyeing. Now, it has come into full ripened fruition, encompassing holistic mental health care grounded in the feminine and shaped by the multidisciplinary studies of the last two decades of my life.
You may be wondering: What is an apothecary?
To me, it’s where you keep your medicine, herbs gathered and dried in summers past to support you through winter; honeys and syrups to soothe both old and new hurts. It’s also where my knowledge of trauma healing, addiction recovery, women’s health sovereignty, regenerative farming, and community herbalism lives. But most importantly, it lives inside of you.
So if you're ready to stock the shelves, take inventory of what you have and what you need, and begin preparing medicine for tomorrow, you’re in the right place.
Just be sure to include a pinch of salt and a healthy dose of sun...
